Autumn is in the Air

Happy First Day of Fall everyone!  Well, tomorrow that is.

Tomorrow is the official beginning of crisp air, fruit pies, changing leaf colors, sweater weather, holiday planning and everything else related to Autumn.

In the morning I will be leaving Hagerman, Idaho and on my way to Spanish Fork, Utah.  I had a blast relaxing with my grandma and grandpa Adamson and am now headed to Utah to start some craft projects with my grandma Colleen.  It is a 4 hour drive between the two towns and should go by fairly fast.  I plan to take some photos along my journey and document the first day of my favorite season of the year, Autumn.

Unfortunately, like a dum-dum I forgot to bring my card reader to upload my photos I took already, so I won't be able to share them with you until I get back to Corvallis.  Its a shame, because I have taken some nice ones already.  Oh well, that will have to wait until I get home.  But I can tell you I am having a great time and so is Charlotte.  Hopefully I will get a chance to check in again soon while on the road.  Hope everyone is having a nice fall day in Corvallis.  I'm looking forward to baking some hearty end of season squash dishes when I get home.

The weather is still warm and sunny this week so why not enjoy the last of the warm weather and the beginning of fall by taking a blanket and a book and having a picnic in the park?

As a side note, this post is my 100th posting.  Yay for me!  I wish it could have been a more exciting topic  but I'm pretty pleased with my efforts this year on blogging and the fun crafts I have made.  I will continue to craft and blog all my creative ideas for the next 100 posts.  I already have tons of ideas just from the few days on my vacation.  Thanks to my grandpa I now have plenty of new diy projects to share with everyone when I get back from my trip.

Until next time,

Jessica

Road Trip

This coming Saturday Charlotte and I are hitting the open road and taking a break from Corvallis to visit family in Idaho, Utah and Nevada.  I am taking two weeks off from work to stay with family and friends I haven't seen for a few years.  Charlotte will be along for the ride as my co-pilot guiding me down to road, making sure we don't get lost.  I have my camera with me and hopefully can find some time to download photos of the trip online.  Its been a busy spring and summer and it will be nice to take some time and relax and catch up with everyone.  When we get back it will be nice and cool (hopefully) and be the perfect time to plant bulbs and get the lawn ready for winter.  (I haven't even left and I'm already thinking of projects when I return.  Ha!)  Enjoy September everyone and I'll keep in touch out on the road.

Happy Travels!

Harvest Time

Today was potato harvesting time.  All the foliage had died back and the potatoes cured in their containers for a few weeks.  I wanted to get them out today before it rained or it got too late in the season.  We had planted purple majesties, all blue, German butter balls and rose fingerlings.  Altogether we collected to pots full of small potatoes.  They will probably only last a week.  We eat a lot of potatoes around here.

I cam outside with a pan to wash potatoes and found Charlotte sitting on the fresh mound of potato dirt.

We also picked two HUMONGOUS zucchini plants.  I have no idea how to use this much squash.  Anyone have any good recipes?

Halloween Display

I had a lot of fun setting up the Fall and Halloween display this year.  Every year I never know how to top the last year's display but I think this is my favorite one so far.  Here are some highlights of our fall merchandise.
I love this mannequin head.  I reminds of the wicked witch of the west.

August Wrap Up

Charlotte and Marcel the hedgehog

I know its been quite a while since my last post.  Its been a very busy 4 weeks.  I have been working hard at the store getting it clean and ready for fall.  I just finished putting together the fall and Halloween display and helping the other staff coordinating painting the interior of the store.  Tomorrow we should be putting up the first coat of red on the back wall.

I haven't just been working hard at the store.  At home we've had a lot of adventures and a lot of visitors lately.  Its been a fun month.  Since I've been absent from my computer here is what has been going on: some of the girls and I went to the Oregon Zoo, I had a couple friends stay two nights from my home town, I went up to Portland again and visited another friend from Reno, had my boyfriend's niece and nephews sleep over, babysat a hedgehog, baked tons of zucchini cupcakes and went to the beach for Labor Day.

Now that I have a few weeks to relax and take it easy for a while I am getting ready to go on a two week road trip to visit my grandparents and family in Idaho, Utah and Nevada.  I am very excited.  I haven't seen most of my family for a few years and this will be a nice break from Corvallis for a time.  I am taking my sidekick Charlotte with me and leaving the bunnies at home.  I think they will enjoy having some peace and quiet from Charlotte for a while.  I am making plenty of stops along the way and visiting a few friends from high school that I hardly ever see.  It will be a fun trip and I will be sure to keep everyone updated from life on the road.

This is my favorite photo of these two.  She's sniffing his butt and he has his tongue out

For Brandy's birthday I knitted her a hat

And then I made a hedgehog pin out of felt to add to the hat.  (Brandy is Marcel's mommy)
